There is no basis for your supposition that Linda Tripp could not distinguish delight from misery. The warm emails lend credence to Tripp's account. They were close to lovey dovey, a lot warmer than was required to tell him "no offense taken" and that she needed a job still. This is no criticism of those notes at all, btw. The rest of your construction I would have to take on faith, my memory of those events being vague. If there is someone reading this thread who can confirm or contradict it, I'd be interested in their version. I am somewhat disturbed at your repeated presentation as fact that Steele "changed her story for money." She told two stories, and she explained why. You may be right about why she changed her story; but it contradicts her own account, and it seems as though this should be acknowledged; and a charge is not proof.
