Mellisa..Market cap is about $7.3 billion. But that still may be borderline for the large institutions that want to hold big caps for their liquidity. Like you say, some companies are obviously big cap, and some are obviously tiny cap, but in between it's a matter of degree and opinion. If you wanted to be scientific I guess you could define mid cap as X number of standard deviations plus or minus from the mean.
If anybody out there knows any generally accepted definition of small, medium , and large cap, let me know. However from an institutional standpoint you would have to factor in shares that are closely held and not available for sale, to determine the float. Well, that's no problem of mine. For my transactions to affect the price it would have a microscopic market cap.. :-)
If the price keeps falling it will be a for sure small cap before too long... :-0
