They seem to indicate about 1 and 1/2 moves per actual move. ggg

What I have seen is that they are an indicator that sometimes indicates a move with a direction change and sometimes doesn't. By the time the indication has reached a high probability (20 point or more divergence in K/D) a lot of the move may have happened. Thus I merely watch them as an indication of possibilities or to time moves that I have decided based on other systems.

In general stochastics seem to give good timing indication but not very good pricing indications.
