Thread: some time ago I mentioned that Dufield's CC was probably aimed at jawboning the price of the stock up so that employees would be able to cash in their options. I also mentioned that some companies reprice their options, and questioned how much of an incentive it is when companies don't insist that employees are sensitive to stock prices. How much of an incentive is there (and for what) when companies engage in this kind of funny business? Here is an example of a company engaging in this practice:

biz.yahoo.com

The price of the stock fell from the 90s to around $12 after a lot of bad news prompted Tellabs to call off its proposed merger with Ciena.

Investors get no such sweetheart deals when they buy a stock at a high price and it suddenly drops.
