Colleen,

Security on the system is all the way to the document level. This is because you may permit someone to look at a folder but you may not want them to know of a document or even view it. For example, if a patient has a mental problem, the doctor may not want the rest of the world to know this.

Also, no tampering can be done. Remember, I stated revision control. What this means is that once a document is saved, it can not be altered. Changes create another document and thus, each change can be viewed. Also remember, this is etched on glass so there is no changing of documents once they are done.

Now, what you mention is a different type of security. Yes, MADI would have a perfect fit for the network to prevent breeches. But, a person with the proper authorization to access a network can manage their way into a system if the are inclined to do so and know the ins and outs. Therefore, controls to the documents from the folder level all the way down to the document level are also needed. Together, the system works beautifully.
