Re AMZN and the shortage of stock The way to do it is to sell calls naked and use the premium that you receive to buy puts--in effect a short position. Go out to November -- say and it is unlikely that you will be assigned even if it goes against you a bit. Required margin is less than shorting the stock based on exchange requirements. May be you know that already--it's the way I'd play it if I did it.
