Jim, I've also heard this theory based on Foot's book re demographics. Personally, i think the rise and fall of interest rates will override demographics in the short term. Long term, I think the explosion of technology like the WWW has made people more "sophisticated" financially, giving them access to information that makes them more confident to invest in equities. I see this in my personal affairs. Having easy access to investment information, quotes, graphs, etc., I'm investing more than I used to. Gen X may prove to be even more adept at using this technology to manage their financial future.

Incidentally, as the first one to reply to your thread, could you help my thread get started. Please do a subject search on TGIS (Thomas Group) and post your thoughts there. I'd appreciate your thoughts on TGIS. It looks very undervalued to me, trading at a PE of about 5 on next years' estimated earnings.
