To illustrate the point about the rich premiums offering opportunities when it comes to writing calls--look at the OEX Nov 495s--where one could pull in 25+ with the OEX trading at the money. The OEX would have to be at 520 before the one begins to lose money assuming that one held the position to expiration -- and that would equate to about a 400+ point move in the DOW to almost the 8500 level. I guess anything can happen but it seems unlikely -- and in the mean time it will continue to suffer erosion of premium if the OEX does not do anything dramatic on the upside. Have not traded the futures since the Thursday trade--if it takes out the 18+ level I may look to scalp it thereafter on a pull-back. Could get a buy signal on my system today-but once again it would be one of those signals that I cannot take, per the system, because of how much it has moved since it made a low on Thurday. Re the bonds--I have rarely day traded it though I know people who do it very successfully. A stop of 4 tics seems rather tight. Bond market is closed today - so I don't know whether the time frames that you mentioned in terms of patterns would apply. Winterizing--yeah that is a new one for me after CA. Not sure what all I have to do--I know that some thing has to be done with the under-ground sprinker system that I have--not sure what and need to call someone to do the necessary. Have not had to turn on the heating yet! It'll be good to have you back on a regular basis.
