From another PM. To me history is the only thing. All science is historical in nature. That is, it depends upon model or theory based upon the analysis of historical (i.e., empirical data). Therefore, accurate historical data is essential. However, what most people don't have a clue about is the need to collect and analyze the data according to an appropriate experimental design. Of course, we then want to apply the model to the most current data to update our predictions.
