Ask Dr. Science: Predictive Systems - Is the price going to go up or down! It doesn't matter if your holding period is 2 minutes or 2 years.

Propose your hypotheses and theories, and then see if they can stand up to rigorous scientific scrutiny.
Many traders have a "feel for the market." However, very few traders or investors who apply "Technical," fundamental, or other methods to the prediction of stock prices, have training in the scientific development, testing, or application of such systems. Most so called "Technical" systems have as much to do with the scientific prediction of prices as astrology has to do with astrophysics.

If you think you know something or want to find out and are willing to discuss it analytically, this is the place. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for those interested to discuss and develop their theories, assumptions, and experimental designs in a more rigorous fashion.

My current interest is stated on my personal profile. However, any and all research interests are invited.

Additionally, please note that the use of all information, not just traditional "Technical" information, including but not limited to "Fundamental" information is fair game for this thread.

The point is that regardless of what info you use to do your prediction, you want the prediction to be reliable. The only way to do that is via the scientific method. Ask Dr. Science.
