That's it in a nutshell.

The fellow in S. America is very successful with it, it appears. But he trades V(ery) L(arge) and has people just crunching the models for him.

All in all it's something I intend to pursue but at this point in time it's definitely in "Holy Grail" status. Shrewdly, I think, I suggested to my college-bound son who intends a CS Major that "This is a field you should definitely look at!" and gave him some packages of info to read.

Anyway, it really is a open field with viable apps in modelling normal Industrial Engineering stuff but modelling Financial Markets -- well, S&Ps -- is real dicey stuff. I think I might be able to model bonds pretty well. My Plan is to model both, at first. I will use the Bond as the True Touchstone and if I get something out of the S&Ps it will be pure gravy.
