Patrick, I don't disagree with much of you say--and you are right that this media does not lend itself to a meaningful discussion of a concept such as this.

Suffice to say, that given that I have never tried to reverse trade a losing system, I have a discomfort with the concept. I said that it was probably psychological but I suspect that part of it is also because I don't understand why it does what it does.

As you know, one should never trade a system that does not have a sound conceptual frame-work -- and reverse trading a system that does not work certainly fits the bill of something that might be conceptually unsound.

However this discussion has been intriguing enough that the next time I develop a system that seems to lose a lot of money over a variety of markets, perhaps what I'll do is to post the signals on this thread and we can follow what would happen if one were to reverse trade it--obviously this has all of the limitations of any simulated trading approach -- but it should be an interesting exercise.
