"One final note, since they have not been listed since 1995, and looking at last year's lowest growth company (Telogy) on the list, number 500, we see that they were 500% over the 5 year period from 1992. Applying the %500 number to the 1993 reported revenue for Executive ($1.365M), they will apparently need to do over $6.8M to make this year's list."

Close but no cigar! (A phrase that will never be the same again!) LOL

Maybe you should have used the benchmarking calculator that Inc. provided. Using it, the revenues for 1997 would have to have been 9.009M in order to qualify for the 1997 500 list! See example below using Inc.'s calculator:

Your year 1 revenue: 1.365 (Executive Mortgage for 1993)
Your year 5 revenue: 9.009 (Mythical revenue for 1997)
Your growth: 560%
You would have ranked 500 on this year's list.

499. Empire Graphics Inc. growth: 562.25%
500. YOUR COMPANY growth: 560%
501. Telogy Networks, Inc. growth: 559.37%

If you are interested in calculating for 1998, go to it at this link:

The point to remember in all this is that the list is based on GROWTH and growth usually declines after a certain point. Startup companies usually have the largest growth. Missing a year or two or from now on really doesn't mean that much. As another example, here is how "Morningstar" has fared:

Year Rank Company Location
1994 136 Morningstar Chicago, IL
1995 172 Morningstar Chicago, IL
1993 179 Morningstar Chicago, IL
1991 270 Morningstar Chicago, IL
1990 471 Morningstar Chicago, IL

I use that example only to show that while they missed the list in 1992 and 1996, they are still "alive!" The absence of EMB from the list is not all that meaningful.

I won't even attempt to address your logic and calculations on the salaries, etc. as I haven't a clue!

Bill
