Anyone know if this is unusual for WCOM?
MCI WorldCom Excludes Press From Earnings Conference Call Jackson, Mississippi, Oct. 29 (Bloomberg) -- MCI WorldCom Inc. excluded the media and the public from its conference call held this morning after the No. 2 U.S. long-distance phone company released third-quarter results.
Prior to the call, which started at 10 a.m. New York time, MCI WorldCom shares fell 1 3/16 to 52 3/4. Since the call began, the shares recovered somewhat, and were down 3/16 to 53 7/8 in midmorning trading.
MCI WorldCom said its call, which included top executives, was for investment analysts and barred all media. The move means smaller investors without access to Wall Street research aren't privy to the call's detailed discussions of the Jackson, Mississippi-based company's results and outlook. ''There are no reporters on the call,'' said Daniel Greenfield, a spokesman at MCI WorldCom. ''It's just a policy we have.'' |
