I know exactly what you mean about day trading keeping you sharp. You're absolutely right about that. In fact, last week, I day traded one afternoon. (I meant no offense, and I believe none was taken.)
I day traded for more years than I can count, and I loved it, but at one point I decided I had no other life. I was trading a dozen markets at a time, my broker loved it, but I was spinning my wheels. The returns didn't compensate for all my work.
After the markets closed, I would follow the bonds in the night session. Then I'd follow the bonds and currencies overseas and up early the next morning for the European markets.
One day, I stood back and looked at what I was doing and realized I was spending too much time following too many markets, crude, cotton, sugar, beans, you name it, I was in it.
I decided that I needed to position trade, and trade one or two markets, and it turned out to be a blessing for me. True confessions.
