Further, the period from 7 trading days before to 7 after Thanksgiving is historically bullish rising 83% of the time in the last 6 years. The average is 13.00 points SPxx per year. Also, for the true trivia buff, The period from the day before to the day after Thanksgiving has seen stocks gain 38 out of the last 45 years. Since the Tax Reform of '86 it's reliability is only 6 of 11, however. Taken from the SuperTraders Almanac, the hypothesis for this is thought to be related to tax strategies.
