Victor Niederhoffer might have bet the ranch and obviously picked the wrong direction on rates but when it came to building a world class silver collection he had few peers. Sotheby's June 15th auction was composed primarily of Victor's painstakingly assembled museum quality American silver. Had Victor not blown-up in the market these items most probably would have been off the market for decades; being passed down to his heirs. Brings back memories of N.B.Hunt having to auction off his ancient gold coin collection after the silver fiasco.
