To get the ball rolling, here is what turned out to be THE bonehead call of 1998. Prior to two positive pre-annoucements by Intel, Kurlak was predicting doom and gloom for semiconductors.

BEFORE THE OPEN******

Semiconductor Stocks: Thomas Kurlak of Merrill Lynch is again making
negative comments about the sector; sees no evidence that price uptick can be sustained as excess supply of chips still very much in place; continues to recommend that investors stay away from the usual suspects -- Intel (INTC 84 7/16), Micron Technology (MU 33 5/16) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD 17 1/4); same as last week.....

INTC, AMD, and MU closed at 118 15/16, 31 1/2, and 51 1/4 on Dec. 7. People who listened to Kurlak, missed out on stock of appreciation of 40.8%, 82.6%, and 55.7% in four months.
