If she says she is not short, I believe her.
I suffered along with her in Iomega, and she was always honest there and not afraid to post something that didn't paint the company in a positive light.
I however am long here and will continue to be. The more people who don't get it, the more room we have to go. Getting a grip on an internet company right now is like catching water with a net. It IS the companies that adapt and change with a medium that is still defining itself will be the winners.
C'mon, last week there was an article to sell yahoo because ads are not growing as fast as TV did in its early days. That is short sighted. They have unbelievable leverage in being the site with the most eyeballs.
For arguments sake, if they bought Onsale or another etailer and created a storefront with 145,000,000 sets of eyeballs a day...
Onsale's management has shown its willingness to change and enter new markets. Even tee times for God's sake. Who cares that it may be a bust, to stand still is to die and they are doing anything but standing still.
I absolutely LOVE what Kaplan is doing these days. Every single quote for a while now and every news release has included the phrase " Business to Business". Way to go! He is breaking the old "Oh, they sell used computers" and differentiating the company from eBay. If people start to take to it and then they drop the VerticalNet/Onsale site on them, people will start to think of Onsale as a Leader of a previously undefined segment and we will carry a huge premium as others do.
