Here's an interesting history of the spot price of oil (West Texas Intermediate). stls.frb.org Note the jump in 1973 and the peak in 1980. Also, check out the price drop from November of 1985 to July 1986. The price got down to about 12.00 per barrel in that drop too. Best wishes, I2
