I've only been with WCOM since it's bid for MCI (Thank You, Bernie!), so I don't have any experience with WCOM splits. But from what I understand of its history, Bernie knows how to "merchandise" his stock as good as anyone. I assume we'll be looking at a 2-for-1 once we approach $80 -- or, the next Director's meeting, I would assume this will be a topic of conversation. Given some of the huge prices the internet stocks are going to ($150+ for AOL) the absolute price of these stocks doesn't seem to be a constraint on price appreciation, so perhaps Bernie and Co. will let things stay at the current shares outstanding but I suspect Bernie will be ahead of the game when the corrections start to take these "internet-story stocks" back down to reality. Just MHO.
