HG, OFF TOPIC LOCAL FISHING REPORT : Most fun: Captain Elliott's Party boats out of freeport.Note to GZ : ( this can be viewed as a 1/2 to 2 day cruise) Most often enjoyed during the summertime. If you have a boat (one of the main reasons I risk my disposable income). read: I don't have one. :-( Galveston : 45-60 minutes out good snapper fishing .Better in the cool of spring but difficult to anticipate weather. Absolute best and well worth 10 hour drive. Venice Louisianna.The last of the undeveloped coastline on the gulf.Makes remote spots of Florida look like tourist traps.This is where the mighty Mississippi flows thru it's delta and into the gulf.This area is the most diverse in species caught and rich in natural resource in the gulf of Mexico IMHO.In the early 1900's pictures of presidents fishing in the New Orlean's Big Game and Fishing Tournament would sport a row of 1000 pound + white and blue bill fish. Alas ,long line fisherman have made those days memories with the indescriminate long line techniques. However sportfisherman have adopted tag and release and the sport is making a comeback.Not so glamorous but in ample quantity are : red fish,snapper, wahoo (thats not a typo),black drum,sea trout,ling ,and really fun to catch black fin and yellow fin tuna (hot right now but again tough to time with the weather). Fishing excursions are easy to charter and the local cell phone system covers 75 miles off shore as long as you are close to a drilling rig.Last but not least real-time quotes can be fed down from a satellite with a Trac Vision mobile satellite dish. So there you have it,the ultimate winter break,Great fishing ,real-time quotes, cell phones to call brokers - all that is missing is this ultra-high-tech fishing boat. I think ,since GZ is calling for Dow 12600,that he ought to start a millionaires fishing fund.If the dow hits 12600 and we had 10 players it would take 5,000 each to upgrade a local charter and take us fishing for one week.What do you say GZ - view it as a cruise. It must be pointed out that this little excursion would not be enjoyable for those who are remotely susceptible to motion sickness. Wives could be optionable but the environment is for the hardy- not to be viewed as a cruise. Call now to save your place -capacity restraints do exist. Now Dreaming - but I will claim reserve to the first spot@5000. Bob
