Here are some of Sidgmore's key points:

- Internet bandwidth capacity is growing at a rate of 10 times per year.
- The world's data networks will be as big as its voice networks by next year.
- Before long, switched telephony will be a tiny percentage of the total.
- New-wave telecom companies like Worldcom and Qwest understand this and are blowing away the foundations of the old telecom establishment.
- Many applications will rise to capitalize on this new utility. -"Boring" corporate applications are just now coming onstream.
- Full multimedia for both consumers and business will be huge.
- "Cockroaches"-wireless communicating computing devices, also known as personal smart appliances-will be ubiquitous. Within a few years we'll all be carrying or wearing five or so on our bodies. - This wireless revolution will be another huge take on what is already a massive change for both providers and users.
- As the masses get hooked, variable pricing will arrive for premium bandwidth and other quality of service features.
