Not a reverse split.

A reverse split is another thing. It is generally bad indicating a declining share price so serious that consolidation is required to simply maintain a price that can be listed at all or at least appear creditable. CMTR is now 2.2 cents after a 5-1 reverse split so it is disappearing from view in spite of the split.

The shares authorized is how many can be issued under current conditions. I do not know there are mandatory rules to adjust that number proportionately for splits in either direction. I doubt that a company that performs a normal split suddenly exceeds its shares authorized, but rather the number is adjusted proportionate the original basis share and ratio of the split.
