Most definitely Martinique. Stayed at the Hotel Sofitel Baqua (sp?) Right on the beach, 4 star hotel, swimsuit tops rarely seen, great food in hotel for breakfast and nearby restaurants for lunch/dinner. French spoken most of the time and I got the opportunity to practice mine when I tried to impress a waiter at a nearby restaurant with my grasp of the French language. "Une grande boutille rouge, s'il vous plait" while trying to order a bottle of red wine. He said in English, "You want me to bring a big red bottle to your table?" Forgot to say "Une grande boutille de vin...meant to have wine in the bottle, too. Cost about $260 per day in April (off winter season) and stayed 5 days. Absolutely worth every penny. Found it on the internet by searching Martinique. Take your partner. You'll have a blast and a memorable experience. Don't bother renting a car. A $2 ferry ride leaves from the hotel to the major town every half hour and takes 15 minutes. Driving with a car because of the circuitous roads takes nearly 50 minutes. Just take a cab from the airport. Costs about $50.
