<..b/c the new buyer/alliance partner, etc. could control the co. &/or cause the recent deal to be rearranged -- uncertainty re the deal. Then, it occured to me. Altavista wanted to ink the deal w/ DCLK before announcing this deal to have an ad strategy ready to go for this portal in the rough...> Agree with your afterthought assessment. The "new buyers" will be the investing public. I see spinoff done as an IPO, and my guess is that CPQ keeps a majority stake.
