NO JOKE HERE - I APOLOGIZE FOR THE INTRUSION

"But the earliest Gospel, Mark, was not written until 65-68 C.E."

Let me make several points:

1. The only thing that can be said with certainty is that no one knows when Mark, or any other gospel for that matter, was written. Internal evidence seems to indicate that it was written before the Jeursalem temple was destroyed in 64 A.D.

2. It wasn't until the 19th century that the THEORY arose that Mark was the first gospel.

3. I disagree vehemently with the shoddy scholarship of the Jesus Seminar which denies that Jesus said most of what is attributed to Him in the gospels.

4. How one views the gospels depends directly on how one views the Bible's source. If you believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, inerrant in its original form, then you accept what is in the Bible on its face. If you believe that the Bible is a work of man then you believe it's just another literary source. ALL ARGUMENTS FOR OR AGAINST THE BIBLE STEM FROM THIS BASIC DIFFERENCE. THESE TWO VIEWS ARE IRRECONCILIBLE AND ATTEMPTS TO RECONCILE THEM ARE DOOMED TO FAIL.

If you wish to discuss this further, may I suggest email? Or is there a religion thread we might move to?
