<<It's interesting that Federated is acquiring Fingerhut.>>
This is expecially relevant since Fingerhut has been acquiring internet e-commerce sites lately, trying to leverage their direct mail expertise. Instead of concentrating on internet-specific companies as takeover candidates for ONSL, we need to expand the possibilities to include the late-comers in the existing retail/wholesale world, up to and including WMT. As to PPOD, I have followed that since inception, but their SI board is probably a more appropriate place for a discussion. Suffice it to say that I think it's an interesting and promising concept, but needs the bugs worked out to make it profitable.
<<ONSL could do better in the "buzz" department. I just don't see it as a long term problem>>
I tend to agree. However, buzz creates traffic and the people are fickle. If ONSL doesn't stay in the news when their competition does, ONSL will lose eyeballs, and therefore potential profits. I don't believe in press releases for the sake of making a press release, but it needs to be part of an internet companies marketing program. just about everyone who uses the web looks at a news aggregator, and a press release works like a free advertisement. That's why all the johnny-come-latelies include the names of the most-watched internet companies in their press releases, even if there is no connection. It makes the news item show up in the news clippings of that major company. how better to reach your competitors investors or customers? |
