Sun, if AMAT should sell for 3x year 2000 sales, then with a recent
price of $70 sales of about $8.7B would be expected for 2000.
1998 sales were about $4B, just a tad lower than 1997. I doubt
$8.7B is possible. Even if it were, AMAT could not rise much
from here, according to your rule.

Where does your 3x rule come from?

On the AMAT thread there are those who expect $100 in a few
months, with little attempt to relate this to fundamentals.
And there are those who think AMAT rather overvalued.
There is agreement the turnaround in orders is under way.
Here's orders vs price through December [new numbers in a few days]
