It really isn't important which investment is better VTSS or MXF.
They are two entirely different investments. One very important difference is a a substantial dividend paid by MXF.
The point that I was trying to make was very simple.
You sold MXF after 1 1/2 yrs for no gain. What I was trying to show was that had you used AIM you would have made a profit using the same investment. it wouldn't be very difficult to find a stock that outperformed VTSS. DELL comes to mind immediately.
I guess it depends by what you mean by "crushed by a tidal wave". I have DD which I purchased at about $40. I AIMed it all the way up to 80 and back down to 51. I'm sitting pretty right now with more cash than I started with and 100% more shares than I started with. One could call a drop from 80 to 51 a tidal wave, I chose to think that it is necessary for AIM's success.
