I guess we are going to have to agree to disagree.

I think the whole point to investing is to choose between investments like VTSS and MXF no matter what methodology you use after you make the selection. The reason to invest is to have the financial security and ability to spend the money at the end of the exercise and the more money you have the better in my book if you can sleep at night.

As far as being crushed by a tidal wave, I am talking about the initial investment for the novice AIM user. If your first investment in AIM results in significant drawdown of your cash reserve and when that is exhausted, the stock continues to drop, it would take someone with more intestinal fortitude than I have to stick with the program.

For those of you who have a large number of years with this method I think that buying blue chip companies no matter what the price and applying AIM is a good investment technique, but for relative newcomers who are starting out, I just don't see a reason to do this especially when they are looking at companies which are less than blue chip quality.
