Where does the money go? Good question.
First of all there is 'real money' (generated from economic activity and credit) and then there is this paper 'wealth.'
Let us talk about real money:

1. It goes to a lot of common people via job wages. Whether that job is really 'needed' for the economic health is a different question altogether.
2. A lot of smart people who not only know how to create/generate wealth but also know how to preserve it will keep a bunch of it. The likes of Bill Gates and Michael Dell will never go broke. Don't belive the CNBS crap when they shed tears for 'lost' paper welath of Michael Dell as the stock tanked 30%. It is baloney. Even if Microsoft goes to zero, with all the shares he sold over these years, Gates will still be a multi billionaire.
3. It goes to Govt coffins as taxes, which means that it will be spent away.

As with the paper wealth. It is just a myth! -g-
