You must have been in the West, perhaps Connemara. The Arans are the only other place I recall hearing it spoken often.

The language is more rarely spoken these days, particularly with the advent of access to television.

Of course, it may be prevalent on Man but I do not recall ever hearing it in Scotland. I was only there for a short time, though. To be honest, I hear it more in New York/New Jersey than I ever did in Eire' but then there are a few teachers in this area.
