Nice summary! The internet has truly changed the dynamics of raising venture capital. Guy Kawasaki, of garage.com, had a very interesting article in Forbes March 22, 1999 issue about raising venture capital. He pointed out how to avoid various pitfalls and recommended keeping capital structures and business plans simple and direct.

I am not sure if there has ever been a time where venture capital funds have not been so flush with cash. However, the elite VC's are reportedly receiving thousands and thousands of business plans. Of which each firm may invest in only a handful of start-ups.

It surely helps to be located in Silicon Valley for a start-up. Austin and Boston appear to be second best. Most VC's invest in their backyards so they can easily attend board meetings, etc.

One only has to study the background of Silicon Investor to realize how difficult it is to launch a start-up. Perhaps we can invite Brad here to comment!
