The CME needs a new system. The one they have currently is a piece of junk. You would think they could afford a decent system....however, that is probably not in their best interest. They probably don't wish electronic trading to succeed.

CUBS DOWN

Thu, 11 Mar 1999 11:02:46 -0600

The CME reported as of 10:55 am that the TOPS to CUBS connection has
failed. All S&P 500 orders will now be routed to paper at the edge of the
pit. Please be aware of the fill reporting delays inherent in this
situation. We recommend the use of Market Orders whenever possible for
the rest of the day. THIS ONLY IMPACTS THE S&P 500 FUTURES FOR JUNE,
1999.
