IMO oil maybe overvalued a bit in the very short run. But I think it is quite likely that we've seen the bottom. Capacity is being reduced and with Korea and Thailand turning the corner demand may begin to pick up - i.e. they could be the leading indicator for the Asian crisis as a whole. Then rising oil prices could a year or two down the track be the trigger for the end of the US expansion as pricing pressure begins to build up and the Fed starts looking at rates. One reason the boom has extended in the US and parts of Europe for so long has been the fall in commodity prices.
