we've got a pretty good contingent of bears on this thread and they're welcome. so i went back to reread the earnings announcement because they made me think PSFT lost money and was imploding. here's what i found.

even in this tough year, PSFT is projecting 20-30% growth in revenue for the year and a nice profit. at $16, this company with its enormous customer base is selling at 3x 1998 and maybe 2.5x 99 sales.

i think the CATP and IBM annoucements really scared investors but, from what i've read, CATP's problems had a lot to do with a muffed internal reorg. and IBM's problems were on the hardware side. PSFT's main issue (after being cleared by SEC) is visibility. the stock should continue weak until they can give some guidance looking forward. but at $16, it's a pretty good investment i think.
