WCOM saw the importance of data communication and acted on that early. T also saw the importance of data communication but procrastinated on developing in that field. The management just wanted to squeeze out the last juice of fat in voice communication. This allowed WCOM to leap frog ahead of T.

Bernie is right about avoiding the cellular phone market. The big profit is in the high speed data communication.
