This dates back a while. Do you remember the "Move"
incident in Philadelphia? I don't know how widely
it was publicized. A whole city block was burned
down over what was essentially a health-code violation.
The thing is, the government can't tolerate people
refusing to comply, no matter how trivial the initial
violation. The ultimate result of refusing to comply
is the use of deadly force.

That's why whenever I hear people calling for the
gov't to get involved in some trivial issue like how
much water a toilet can hold, I wonder if they
are really ready to use deadly force to enforce their
desires. At the end of the day, that's what the
government amounts to. Like George Washington said;
"Government is not eloquence or reason, it is force;
like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a deadly
master." [from memory so I may be paraphrasing]
