The only weather related problem I have is snow accumulation on the dishes. It is only an issue when the snow is the wet, heavy kind that sticks. I just brush them off with one of those little snow brushes like you keep in the car. I have been told that during certain sunspot events, you can loose the signal for a bit but that doesn't seem to happen to me. Taking the time to align the dishes perfectly is the key to a strong reliable signal.

Yes, the speed and reliability is extremely good, with the exception of the time when that "beeper satellite" crapped the bed a while back. DTN was using that satellite so they were out for a few days until they switched to a different satellite.

The key to going the satellite route is you need to have a clear view of the southern sky, about 210 on the compass.
