Chip,

I use the exact same "tools" as any trader. I just trade with a longer time horizon and am willing to risk more capital for that larger payoff. I have been burnt on several occasions, but have hit a number of grand slams as well. My wife takes 20% of all winnings! She sees all statements and knows when it has been a good month or bad one. I have actually blown up 2 times in 5 years! That was before I was married!

As for as short term trades, I do trade LC and LH on a regular basis. These might last 2-10 days at a time. Once in a while I will dabble in the bonds. Not all, or many, trades are 3-6 month horizons. But, when I see an opportunity like I do now in the S&P, I will hold the positions a lot longer.
