Dale, I don't want to get into a flame war with you. I have zero desire to see you lose money. I am unhappy that you said you were short when you weren't. And you did ask what was wrong with calling an option position a long/short position (or vice versa), so I gave you a reasonable answer, IMO.

As for my own short position, which was against the box (leaving me net long), I closed it out after a week or two, with minimal damage. I did the trade and I am still comfortable with it, even though it lessened my gains for a time.

Nevertheless, I hope you agree -- and can refrain from attacking me personally -- that a) holding puts is different from being short, and b) it is wrong to say you are short when you aren't. Even in
Message 6554698 you said you were short SUNW, which you weren't.

Or, put another way, are you *still* claiming that you are short Sun? I hope not, because based on what you've said, you aren't!

I don't think you were trying to mislead anyone. But I do think you used the wrong term ("short") to describe your position.
