the serious run came after the announcement.

" Can you call it a breakout if there is not really a resistance level established."

no.
a resistance level has to be established to begin with, and then
the stock "breaks out". in this case previous resistance was
154 3/4 on April 13th. that one is toast.

so now we're in the process of setting a new resistance level.
(so far it looks like right around 163)
