Robin, the clear goal is to make money from the trade where relative to risk/reward shorting puts could be an alternative to buying calls. On shorting puts, you may want to refer to "Options as a Strategic Investment" to learn about various options strategies. Or search for my old posts in '96 on the Tech Options thread where I posted ad nauseum about the topic. I don't have the inclination or time to keep repeating posts.
