JD your idea of a tape recorder is a good one.
I also believe you should instantly print copies
of all bids/ask and buy/sell orders with date/time stamp.
Don't wait for mailed copies.

I am a novice gone from Waterhouse to E-trade to Datek,
and now looking for a DT broker.

One feature of cybertrader that interest me is the trailing
stop-loss order capability. Do you know of anyone else
offering this?
