Been to Sligo. Nice area, but never made it up to Donegal. I think Sligo is Yeats Country, is it not?

<goin to drink Ireland dry >

Think again, my friend. I would stay in the pubs until 4 AM and the locals would ask why I was leaving as I was on holiday.

Them? They had to work by dawn. Power Drinkers, no question.

Corofin is a three block long town with 8 bars and 5 funeral homes. The Gardai shut down the bars at 11:30 one night. At 2 in the morning the Gardai still watched as the entire town took over the street and continued to party....the bars served us from the back doors.

People were landing at Shannon and driving through but naturally could not make it, so they parked their cars and joined the fun. In effect, as the night wore on the party actually got larger.

So if you are with the right crowd you will have all the competition you will ever need.

One thing, there are a lot of Do's and Don't in Irish bars but I imagine you shall figure it out as you go.

Thanks, but September 18 won't work, most likely. My wife goes to Bermuda around then and we still have kids in school so both of us blowing out at the same time ain't working.

Also, I used to race Centuries years ago. Taking a bike trip for me was never a scenic thing, it was a race. I gave that up for golf. I am not in the shape that I was at that time. Riding a hundred to a hundred and a half miles a day at full pedal was nothing.

Now I don't even walk to the end of the driveway to get the paper. I have sons for that job.
