OT It took a minute, but I finally recalled where Ballinrobe was in my memory banks. If you watch the movie, "The Quiet Man", with Barry Fitzgerald, John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara, Victor McLaghlen, and so on there is a scene during the fight between Wayne and Squire Danaher where Mikaeleen Og Flynn encourages Wayne to slow down the tempo of the fight because people are coming over from Ballinrobe. I am pretty certain that was the parish. Filmed mostly in Cong, Mayo, I do think there is a Ballinrobe nearby. Most of our records were lost as a result of the burning of the GPO around the time of the Rebellion. I never check back further than our own stuff, which only goes back to the mid 1800s (and even those recollections are getting dim).
