On these cold callers, if you just ask them to hold they will give up pretty quick. If you have the time and interest to annoy THEM, show a lot of interest but never commit to ANYTHING, ask a lot of questions, ask them to repeat things so you can make SURE you understand what they are saying, play the fool a bit, then tell them you are REAL interested and have just a few more questions. Then say, wait a second, someone is at the door, can you hold on a minute because this sounds really good. Then set the phone down and leave 'em hanging.
If they call you a lot and you just want them to leave you alone, tell them in no uncertain terms that they are jerks, that there is no way in hell you will ever do business with them, so they might as well quit wasting THEIR time by calling you. On the third call I got from Gaines Berland I told them this in a very LOUD manner and never heard from them again. That was several months ago. |
