The Solstice thread hasn't been started yet.

The references have a history. Cheeky Kid started several seasonal threads, among them one for Christmas entitled Mistletoe--where one could express affection and appreciation for the posters to whom one wanted to express appreciation for a year of interesting and fun postings and one for Valentine's Day, where people smooched and had a great deal of fun.

One not very nice person on SI made fun of him for these seasonal threads, saying they were all to grab attention. Utter nastiness and because of a desire to discredit him; be assured that he got lots of support and Valentine's was one of the hottest threads on SI. The nastiness worked, though. He lost the enthusiasm for seasonal threads. We completely missed St. Patrick's Day while a couple of us dithered about who would take up the torch. The fun threads are a great way to relax while beating your head against a wall in the stock market or wherever.

So I started one for Mayday, otherwise known as Beltane. Whew! Perfectly sensible people went bananas and I thank SI Bob from the bottom of my heart for not busting the lot of us. So now the people who frolicked on Beltane are eagerly awaiting the next pagan rite--the summer solstice. Unfortunately, it is a bit more tame than Beltane.
