<<<Unfortunately, it is a bit more tame than Beltane.>>>

There are, of course, many ways to celebrate the Solstice. I feel this, au moins. You may well feel a fit of tameness coming on. I am most sympathetic, and shall form a committee to inform the dudes of this, and shall urge them most vociferously not to risk offending your refined sensibilities. The dudes and I shall meet in the tree house at midnight. Never fear, I have your best interest at heart.

The summer solstice is a "bit more tame than Beltane"? Are you mad, woman?

Have you forgotten that the summer solstice (June 21st), or Alban Heruin, is "the symbolic orgasm of the year"?

And that if that is still "too tame" for you, there is the next Celtic Festival on July 3lst, Lughnasade, which celebrates the emasculation of the sun god.

Boy, these blase Restoration comedy types, they'd better move aside for the REAL Dionysians!

Just came up from the depths of this thread for a breath of fresh air and saw this.

Thanks for the history lesson. Ummmm... I'm not sure whether I should look forward to the solstice or not, but I think so. Not so sure about this Lughnasade thing though.
